What we collect
- Account details: your email address and name when you sign up or sign in.
- Votes: which favorites you voted for and when, so we can enforce one vote per person, per category, per day. We never show individual votes publicly; only totals.
- Things you submit: businesses, events, news, listing claims, contributor applications and stories, banner ads, partner applications and contact messages.
- Usage stats: page views and reading time on stories, and views and clicks on banner ads, so writers and advertisers can see how their content performs.
- Referral cookie: if you arrive through a partner link, we remember the referral code in your browser for 60 days so the partner can be credited.
How we use it
We use this information to run the directory: moderate submissions, count votes, send the emails you ask for (sign-in codes, review updates, reports), pay partner commissions and answer your messages. We do not sell your personal information.
Emails
We send emails about your own activity (for example a voting code, a story review or a weekly ad report) from [email protected].
AI and data use
We use AI tools to help review and categorize submissions, check contributor stories for tone and structure, and suggest ad designs. An editor reviews AI suggestions before anything is published. Public pages on Your Stark (listings, events, stories) may be read by search engines and AI services, including for search, AI answers and model training. Private information such as your email, votes and messages is not public and is not shared with them.
Your choices
You can update or remove your listing details, or ask us to delete your account and data, by contacting us or emailing [email protected].
